The Royal - Day 7 - Captain Canada and Olympic athletes descend on Toronto

Here's what you need to know today from the 97th Royal Agricultural Winter Fair, on now until Sunday, November 10

Good morning!

Here's your daily dose of Olympic Equestrian Athletes congregating at Exhibition Place. We have Captain Canada, Ian Millar on-site today only. This is a big deal.

As a reminder, if you need a dose of cute for a broadcast segment? We've got b-roll of Lil' Ben the Mini Horse meeting adoring fans, kids feeding goats at the Petting Farm and a selection of other great scenes from yesterday at the Fair - click here to download video clips of Lil' Ben.

Give us a call at 647-865-2552 or stop by the Media Salon (Salon 101 in the south west corner of the Enercare Centre) if you'd like to arrange curated experiences for media features. We'd love to help you get the most of The Royal and highlight something truly unique!

For full details on events and activities at The Royal Agricultural Winter Fair, see here

1. "Captain Canada" - 10-time Olympic athlete, Ian Millar

Today, the record-holder the most Olympics attendances out of any athlete, in any sport, will attend the Royal Horse Show. Ian Millar, affectionately nicknamed Captain Canada, will be at The Fair watching his daughter, Amy, compete. Truly a star of the equestrian world and an honoured Canadian Olympic athlete, this not to miss. A tribute to Millar, who recently retired from international competition, will be held tonight at the Horse Show, which begins at 7:00 p.m.

2. Gold-medalist Eric Lamaze!

The Horse Show will also see Canadian gold-medalist, Eric Lamaze, make a rare appearance today. Yesterday Lamaze won The Royal Horse Show in his first return to the competition since 2011. If you're into equestrian sport, this is the day to attend The Royal.

3. The best in, well, just about everything

Today the Royal's winning butter sculptures are on display, along with dozens of other categories. If you're a producer of food, a win at The Royal is the highest honour in Canada. Come check it out and we can arrange for interviews with Royal Ribbon Winners.

Continue to expect reactions from your audience like this (recycling this photo from yesterday, because it's the best!):

We have too many fantastic segment and photo opps at The Royal, especially with Lil' Ben the tiny (yet feisty) horse.

Again, if you'd like to arrange interviews or require media passes, you can pop by the Media Salon in the south-west corner of the Enercare Centre (Salon 101) and we'd be happy to help!

See you at The Fair!
